Infrastructure Engineer

About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join us in our dynamic and exciting environment.

​To ensure that we’re at the forefront of developing pioneering solutions, the decision to move to AWS was simple. We now have datacentres in AWS’ Virginia, Dublin and Sydney regions and about 600 EC2 instances to maximise our coverage. These range from small T’s to massive R and X family servers. Other services like ECS, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS, RDS, ElastiCashe, etc are used also to fortify our tech stack.

We also have three datacentres hosting the “data sovereign” version of our platform that don’t make use of provider-specific technologies, which enables us to host and maintain them from just about anywhere in the world.

Currently, we’re hosting two instances of this platform on our own infrastructure and another in Azure.

The Team

Operating in a DevOps echo system, where software teams build, deploy, and manage their own applications, we require the skills of expert-level technical ninjas to advise dev teams where needed, as well as build and maintain a platform that enables the development teams to deliver secure, efficient, and effective products.

Being an ISO 9001, ISO 27001 certified company, we also need technical experts to assist us in implementing the controls we have defined in our internal policies and standards.

Due to our rapid growth, the Development Support function is a primary focus for our continued success and consists of three teams: Database Administrators, Infrastructure Engineers, and Operational Developers. These are all experts in their fields that have technical oversight in the areas they operate in.

High-level responsibilities for this role include:

• Act in a consulting capacity to development teams should they seek expert advice.
• Make platform-level changes like upgrades/downgrades patching etc.
• Strive to, as far as possible standardize our platforms in AWS, Azure, and VMWare, limiting the development teams’ exposure to the subtle differences.
• Implement automated processes/tools to maintain compliance to our policies relating to security, backup/DR, access management, etc.
• Design and write new policies in areas where existing controls are found to be inadequate or require improvement.
• Technical oversight over our 8 Data Centres. In total this comprises around 800 servers
• Predominantly a fleet of Microsoft Windows servers augmented with a healthy portfolio of AWS serverless technologies.
