Hardware Development Engineer

Location: Stellenbosch (remote option)

Reports to: Hardware Engineering Manager

 

About the Opportunity:

Are you passionate about the field of electronics and technical information? Are you goal orientated with a keen eye for detail? We are looking for a Hardware design engineer who enjoys a challenge and who works well within a team as well as independently.

 

As a member of the Engineering Hardware Team, you’ll be responsible for developing and industrialisation of physical electronic products. This entails all aspects of HW development, Schematic capturing, PCB design, testing, certification, test firmware and be involved with the high-volume production test team that oversee the production. You’ll work closely with the Hardware Team that will assist and support you as required. We work as a team but there is ample opportunity to develop products and gain knowledge in all facets in isolation.

 

Key Responsibility Areas and Duties:

  • Develop and design embedded products.
  • Write FW to test and develop products.
  • Oversee schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Conduct and manage the certification of products.
  • Compile Bills of materials, costing formal approval and signoff.
  • Compile product specification.
  • Compile test specifications.

What you need to be successful:

  • Experience in electronic design and micro controller operation.
  • Experience in embedded #C code to test and develop HW.
  • Experience with analog design
  • Experience with digital design
  • Compiling of Materials, product costing.
